Concertmasters
Thomas Callino: 2008-
Thomas Callino began his musical career at age 8, when he started taking piano lessons. At the age of 10, he started playing the violin in the Lincoln Park Academy Orchestra. with the help of his first teacher, Gerard Augustine, a former concertmaster of the Treasure Coast Symphony, he was promoted to Concertmaster of his school orchestra in 7th grade, a position he held until he graduated. During his time in high school, he spent his summers at Sewanee Music Festival in Tennessee, and Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan. Mr. Callino started playing in the Treasure Coast Symphony at age 13, the youngest member of the symphony at the time. He was selected to play in the Florida All-State Orchestra, the UCF Honors Orchestra, and the Four-County Honors Orchestra. He has studied with Sergiu Schwartz, Igor Markstein, Dr. John Enyart, and Matt Stott. In April 2004, he won the Treasure Coast Symphony’s Young Artist Scholarship Award and enchanted the audience with Mozart’s Concerto No. 3 in G Major. He further increased his experience in music this past winter by playing with the North Carolina Civic Symphony and Chamber Orchestra while studying with Jose Bastardes at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Callino is also a member of the Indian River Pops Orchestra. He is planning on furthering his career in music with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree.
Adam Bartal: 2007-2008
Adam Bartal began taking violin lessons when he was 3 1/2 years old. He studied under Dr. John Enyart for ten years. While in high school Adam performed with the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony, played for weddings and enhanced the music ministry in many churches. Adam's love of music continued, leading him to minor in Music and Bible at Clearwater Christian College while pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Adam is currently teaching high school math at Barnabas Christian Academy and is also directing the advanced strings class.
Linda Spiwak: 2005-2008
Linda Spiwak has a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from the State University College at Fredonia, New York. She has been teaching private violin lessons for more than 30 years and presently teaches violin in Vero Beach, Florida.
She was the assistant concertmaster of the Utica Symphony in Utica, New York and also a member of the Catskill (NY) Symphony, Schenectady (NY) Symphony, and the Spiwak Family Quartet. In addition to her symphony work, Linda has also played in backup bands for world class entertainers including Wayne Newton, John Denver, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Bobby Vinton, Paul Anka, Anne Murray, Connie Francis and Patti Page. She has also played in pit orchestras for numerous high school and community theater Broadway musical productions.
Linda was concertmaster of the Treasure Coast Symphony and plays in the Holy Cross Church Quartet.
Josephine Goldman: 1988-2005
Josephine Goldman studied with Henri Hayza, a pupil of noted violin pedagogue Otakar Sevcik, and with Aida Gherdovicci, both of Roosevelt University in Chicago. Ms. Goldman was a member of the Women’s Symphony of Chicago, the Evanston Symphony (Illinois), Highland Park Strings (Illinois), the Atlantic Classical Orchestra of Florida, and Lawrence Welk Orchestra. She was the first female musician to play in the Lawrence Welk Orchestra.
